HYCOSAN® DUAL (7.5 ml) preservative-free solution for ophthalmic use
The dual mechanism of action of sodium hyaluronate and ectoine moistens the eye and stabilises the lipid in the tear film.

What is HYCOSAN® DUAL?
HYCOSAN® DUAL is a sterile, preservative-free solution for ophthalmic use.
Composition:
1 ml of HYCOSAN® DUAL contains 0.5 mg sodium hyaluronate, 20 mg ectin, boric acid, matrix and water for injection.
What is HYCOSAN® DUAL used for?
HYCOSAN® DUAL hydrates the cornea and conjunctiva and protects against excessive evaporation of tears. Tear stabilisation relieves the inflammatory symptoms of irritated eyes. It also relieves itching and burning sensations associated with allergies.
When should HYCOSAN® DUAL be used?
Burning, itching, tearing, foreign body sensation or dry eye are sensitive symptoms of irritated eyes. Often this is the result of insufficient moisture in the eye surface. Other symptoms may be triggered by allergies such as pollen, animal hair or dust. Because allergies have similar symptoms, it is difficult to distinguish between dry or allergic eyes.
In these cases, the dual action of sodium hyaluronate and ectoine in HYCOSAN® DUAL helps to relieve these symptoms.
HYCOSAN® DUAL contains sodium hyaluronate, a physiological substance found in the eye and other tissues of the body. Sodium hyaluronate provides a uniform, stable and long-lasting moisture on the surface of the eye.
Ectoine is a natural substance extracted in the form of microorganisms that live in extreme environments (e.g. salt lakes). To protect against such extreme environmental conditions, these microorganisms form natural ectoine. Its specific properties are applied by HYCOSAN® DUAL. Ectoine enhances water retention on the cells of the surface of the eye.
This forms a physiological barrier on the conjunctiva against allergenic substances. Ectoine stabilizes the lipid layer of the tear film, which protects against excessive evaporation of tears.
The interaction of sodium hyaluronate and ectoine provides intense and prolonged moisture to the ocular surface and protects against tear evaporation. Typical symptoms of itching and burning, which occur as an inflammatory response to environmentally induced irritation and allergic reactions, are relieved by HYCOSAN® DUAL.

Please do not use HYCOSAN® DUAL if any part of the protective seal of the collapsible carton is damaged or broken.

Loading the system:
To refill the system, remove the lid and turn the HYCOSAN® DUAL bottle upside down.
Place two fingers on the base and your thumb on the shoulder of the bottle, press firmly on the base and release. Repeat this several times until the first drop is released. The bottle is ready for use.
General use:
Remove the lid and turn the HYCOSAN® DUAL bottle upside down.
Hold the bottle with the other hand.
Hold the bottle as shown in the previous figure. Tilt your head back slightly, pulling the lower eyelid down. Press the base of the bottle. This will allow the bottle to release a drop into the conjunctival sac. Release and repeat for the other eye. After each application, slowly close the eye to allow the liquid to spread evenly over the surface of the eye.
The COMOD® valve system design ensures that the size and velocity of each drop is the same regardless of the pressure applied to the base of the bottle.
During use, avoid contact between the tip of the bottle and your eye or skin.
Before replacing the cap, check that the tip is dry.
HYCOSAN® DUAL releases approximately 225 drops of solution (7.5 ml). A small amount always remains in the bottle at the end of its lifetime.
HYCOSAN® DUAL can be used 6 months after opening. The bottle should be discarded after 6 months of use. Do not allow others to use HYCOSAN® DUAL.
Other information
If you use any other eye drops, please allow at least 30 minutes after application before applying HYCOSAN® DUAL. However, always apply the eye ointment after using HYCOSAN® DUAL.
As HYCOSAN® DUAL is phosphate and preservative free, it is also well tolerated for prolonged use. Hypersensitivity reactions are very rare, but if burning or excessive stinging pain occurs, please discontinue use of HYCOSAN® DUAL.
HYCOSAN® DUAL is compatible with contact lenses. If you are wearing contact lenses and experience such a reaction, please check if there has been a change in the contact lens solution as this may be the cause of the reaction. If your symptoms do not disappear, contact your doctor immediately.

There are no restrictions on the use of HYCOSAN® DUAL in pregnant and breastfeeding women.
How often and for how long can HYCOSAN® DUAL be used?
HYCOSAN® DUAL should be used as directed by your doctor or eye care professional. In general, adults and children 6 years of age and older should instill one drop of HYCOSAN® DUAL into the eye three times daily. It may be used more often if necessary.
HYCOSAN® DUAL is suitable for long-term treatment. Please consult your doctor or eye specialist if symptoms persist or start to get worse, or if HYCOSAN® DUAL is used very frequently (e.g. about 10 times a day).
When should HYCOSAN® DUAL not be used?
HYCOSAN® DUAL should not be used if you are sensitive to any of the ingredients and in children under 6 years of age.
What you need to know about storing HYCOSAN® DUAL
Keep at a maximum of 25 °C
HYCOSAN® DUAL should be discarded 6 months after opening. To keep the container label as a reminder, there is a place to record the date of first use of the product.
Do not use beyond the expiry date.
Keep out of the reach of children.
